Originally constructed in the second half of the 17th century, the Royal Palace has evolved dramatically over the centuries. Former functional spaces have been given entirely new purposes: a prison became a wine cellar, a tax office was transformed into a guest room, and the citizens’ hall now serves as an impressive ballroom. Yet traces of their original functions remain visible through painted ceilings, marble reliefs, and monumental artworks.
